From Heavy to Hungry – The Real Story Behind RMGA

Trent Gamble after 100 lb transformation, RMGA founder outdoor fitness lifestyle Greenville SC.

Replacing food for a new type of hunger:

There was a time when I couldn’t recognize the guy in the mirror.
Not because I didn’t know who he was — but because he wasn’t who I used to be.

I wasn’t lazy. I wasn’t weak. I was just… stuck. The weight crept in, my energy disappeared, and inflammation took over every part of my body and mind. It wasn’t one bad habit — it was years of ignoring the warning lights. Prediabetes, exhaustion, and a general sense that my fire had gone out.

Then came the turning point — the day I decided to stop pretending everything was “fine.” That’s when I reached out to Oakview Medical Associates. They didn’t give me a magic pill. They gave me data, structure, and accountability — and I gave them everything I had left.

The Rebuild

The first few months were brutal. Every small win felt like climbing a mountain in boots filled with lead. But piece by piece, I started taking back control.

I dropped over 100 pounds.
My bloodwork normalized.
The fog lifted.

For the first time in years, I felt alive again.

It wasn’t a diet — it was a reset. I rebuilt my metabolism through clean eating, fasting, and consistency. I tracked every detail using the Renpho scale and my Oura ring. My numbers told the story my mirror hadn’t caught up to yet — muscle up, fat down, sleep optimized.

Finding My Edge Again

When my body started working with me again, I rediscovered something I’d lost: curiosity. I started moving more — hiking, biking, swimming, playing pickleball, and sailing. Movement turned into meditation. Sweat turned into therapy.

I joined ACAC, made the sauna my second home, and used every trail around Greenville like it was built for me personally. The hills, the wind, the effort — all of it became part of my recovery.

The Birth of RMGA

At some point, I stopped just trying to stay healthy — I wanted to see how far I could go. That’s when the idea of the Rabid Mountain Goat Association was born.

Mountain goats don’t survive in comfort. They thrive in the impossible. They find footing where no one else can. That’s the mindset that got me here — and it’s what RMGA stands for now.

The “Rabid” part? That’s not about anger. It’s about obsession — a relentless passion for the outdoors, for movement, and for refusing to settle.

The Mission

RMGA isn’t a club. It’s a movement.
It’s for people who hit the wall — and decided to climb over it.

It’s for the 40-, 50-, 60-year-olds who still have fire in the tank but need a spark to light it again. For the ones who want to rebuild strength, confidence, and connection — without excuses, without pretense.

We hike. We ride. We sweat. We laugh.
We do it because life’s too short to sit it out.

Where I Am Now

Today, I’m in the best shape of my life — not just physically, but mentally. My mornings start early, my body feels strong, and my mind is sharper than it’s been in decades.

Every ride, every trail, every drop of sweat is a reminder that transformation isn’t luck — it’s choice.

This isn’t a comeback story.
It’s a relaunch.

From heavy to hungry — that’s where the climb began.

RMGA Motto:

“Comfort never built character.” “Discipline leads to Motivation.”

About Trent Gamble

Founder, Rabid Mountain Goat Association

I’m Trent Gamble — a lifelong explorer, athlete, and the engine behind the Rabid Mountain Goat Association (RMGA). After losing over 100 pounds and rebuilding my health from the ground up, I set out to prove that life after 50 isn’t the downhill slope people make it out to be — it’s the climb that defines you.

RMGA was born on the trails around Greenville, South Carolina — out of early mornings, muddy rides, and a refusal to settle. My mission is simple: show what’s possible when discipline meets curiosity. I live for the grind that clears your mind, the laughter that follows the burn, and the satisfaction of earning every ounce of progress.

These days, you’ll find me mountain biking, playing pickleball, hiking with Delta (my Pomsky), or testing new gear for The Plan — my ongoing blueprint for living strong, staying sharp, and feeling ten years younger.

Whether it’s fitness, style, or mindset, I’m here to help others break their own limits, reclaim their edge, and remember what it feels like to move with purpose again.

Stay wild. Stay optimized.
