The Story Behind the Rabid Mountain Goat Association

Some things are born out of comfort.
The Rabid Mountain Goat Association (RMGA) wasn’t one of them.

RMGA was created out of a need to get outside — not just to escape, but to feel alive. To trade screens for sunlight, deadlines for dirt trails, and comfort for the kind of effort that actually means something.

Why the Mountain Goat?

Mountain goats don’t just live in rugged, inhospitable terrain — they own it.
They climb where others stop. They don’t wait for perfect weather, smooth trails, or an easy route to the summit. They just move — sure-footed, stubborn, and determined.

That’s the spirit that drives us. The goat became our symbol because it mirrors how we live: persistent, focused, and ready to take on whatever the trail (or life) throws our way.

Why “Rabid”?

Because “passionate” wasn’t strong enough.

“Rabid” captures the energy that hits you when the cold air burns your lungs and your legs are screaming — and you still don’t want to stop. It’s that unstoppable drive to get outside no matter what.

It’s not about perfection. It’s about movement. Rain, mud, cold mornings, steep climbs — bring it.

What RMGA Represents

RMGA isn’t a club or a company. It’s a mindset.
A belief that movement is medicine and challenge builds clarity.

We’re for the ones who’d rather earn their view than scroll through someone else’s. The ones who don’t need a crowd — just a trail, a bike, or a paddleboard.

Our adventures aren’t about bragging rights. They’re about living rights — because life is better when it’s raw, real, and just a little bit uncomfortable.

The Tribe

The RMGA tribe includes everyone who shares that wild streak — hikers, bikers, sailors, pickleball warriors, and everyday people who refuse to settle for average. It’s about community, laughter, and a bit of friendly competition.

You’ll find us on mountain trails, local courts, or maybe just enjoying a sunrise with a cup of black coffee and sore legs.

We’re fueled by movement, grounded in purpose, and proud of the scars we’ve earned along the way.

Join the Climb

If you’ve ever felt that pull — that itch to get out, move, breathe, and challenge yourself — then you’re already one of us.

Because at the end of the day, RMGA isn’t about how far you climb.
It’s about the fact that you keep climbing.

Follow the Herd. Live Rabid. Move Like a Mountain Goat.

About Trent Gamble

Founder, Rabid Mountain Goat Association

I’m Trent Gamble — a lifelong explorer, athlete, and the engine behind the Rabid Mountain Goat Association (RMGA). After losing over 100 pounds and rebuilding my health from the ground up, I set out to prove that life after 50 isn’t the downhill slope people make it out to be — it’s the climb that defines you.

RMGA was born on the trails around Greenville, South Carolina — out of early mornings, muddy rides, and a refusal to settle. My mission is simple: show what’s possible when discipline meets curiosity. I live for the grind that clears your mind, the laughter that follows the burn, and the satisfaction of earning every ounce of progress.

These days, you’ll find me mountain biking, playing pickleball, hiking with Delta (my Pomsky), or testing new gear for The Plan — my ongoing blueprint for living strong, staying sharp, and feeling ten years younger.

Whether it’s fitness, style, or mindset, I’m here to help others break their own limits, reclaim their edge, and remember what it feels like to move with purpose again.

Stay wild. Stay optimized.
